On a Saturday morning we are looking forward to finally enter the Congo. We are heading towards Luvo. This border crossing was recommended to us by other travellers as small and tranquil, with a fast and easy clearance. That is why we see ourselves almost in the Congo, when we arrive in Luvo. Big mistake, since we are now totally unprepared for what is expecting us here: people, countless people, busy, annoyed, stressed, partly aggressive. Some are pushing forward despite the barrier, thus border guards use nightsticks in order to get the situation under control. It is hectic, insanely noisy, the road is blocked with trucks, cars, carts - tooting and screaming from everywhere. I look at Martin in horror. We cut our way through the crowd.

Our DRC visa invalid?
Finally we arrive on the DRC (DR Congo) side, but guess what? The border official does not accept our visa. Since we come from Cape Town, we should have applied for the visa in the mother city. The one we received in Windhoek would not be valid!
